Before joining ALMAC, please read our terms and conditions. You can join any of Almac's membership schemes now by filling in our online subscription form.

Internet Membership

PREMIUM
Suitable for power users who do not wish their Internet access to be restricted in any way. You receive up to six email boxes with this account.

All accounts include:

• FREE membership of the Almac Bulletin Board System (see below)
• FREE access of ClariNet news
• FREE software
• FREE World Wide Web space (512k for Almac LITE and REGULAR subscribers, 2 Megabytes for Almac PREMIUM subscribers)

BBS Membership

This membership level is available for either direct dial into our service by modem or accessing through a telnet connection. So what do you get with this membership?

• Access to the world of BBS public mail networks.
  These networks were around before the usenet newsgroups were available and today they are still an excellent place to do public messaging. For one thing these networks all carry hosts for each of their forums meaning that bad language and off topic messages are banned. This makes them a much more civilized placed to messages and often the message content and quality are much higher than their associated newsgroups. Another advantage is that you can message to individuals instead of the ALL you have to use in newsgroups messaging. This means that it's much easier to build up relationships and often you'll find yourself making friends around the world. Great when you're going on holiday!
• The special and unique atmosphere of the ALMAC BBS.
  There really is a unique and special atmosphere on the BBS and you'll meet the other ALMAC members many of which are still there from our early days back in 1988. Hand on heart we'd say that we've got the best bunch of callers of any system bar none. You can get help on just about any topic you can think of. We've got Doctors and Dentists, Lawyers and Civil Servants, Builders and Joiners, Parents and Children and just about everyone in between. We're really just like a big family and of course just like a family we do have our arguments but we also have help when we need it. So.. if you havn't experienced the world of BBS'ing you really need to experience this as it's totally unlike the Internet... it's a real community!
• Files and File Searching.
  ALMAC hold over 10Gbytes of files with more than 100Mb's being added every week. It's a great resource as unlike the Internet you can search through all our multi-line descriptions for any text string. Takes a little getting used to but once you have the hang of it you can issue a command such as "Z diary & calendar | dos a" which translates into searching for any file that contains the words diary and calendar but will ignore any that also contain the word dos and a means to seach through all our 130 file areas. On the Internet you have to at least know part of the filename to do a search so you can see how useful this feature is.
• Many other features like games, both graphical and text based. The best Trivia on-line game on the planet and you can even run your own lemonade store! We've got space adventures, dungeons and dragons, chess, word games and on-line chat as well plus loads more.

To join ALMAC's Bulletin Board Service you just pay a one off fee of �39.00 + VAT and that gives you a full 12 months membership. Perhaps the best value for money service bar none!

BBS+ Membership

This membership level is available for either direct dial into our service by modem or accessing through a telnet connection. So what do you get with this membership?

• All the benefits of ALMAC BBS
• This membership also gives you an Internet email address and access to approximately 5000 newsgroups. You can use our excellent 1STALMAC.EXE program given out free and with that you can do off-line mail. It also comes with a comms program for those that are dialing into us direct.
• For those coming in direct it also gives you text based access to the Internet in that with our Lynx client you can visit any web page but of course you won't get the pretty pictures but all the text is available. We also provide a telnet and ftp client for you to use.

This membership level is ideal for those just wanting an Internet email account with only occassional access to the Internet. To join the ALMAC Bulletin Board Service Plus service you just pay a one off fee of �69.00 + VAT and that gives you a full 12 months membership. You can also subscribe monthly at �7.99 incl of VAT.

Almac's Bounty Scheme

We have always recognised that more new members join Almac through word of mouth recommendation that any other marketing channel. We have therefore decided it is time to formalise this and show our appreciation.

With immediate effect, we are introducing a membership introduction bounty which will apply to new PREMIUM Internet accounts. For those introducing a new monthly PREMIUM Internet account, we will pay (to the introducer) a bounty of �5.00. For an annual subscription, this is raised to �10.00. This will be paid by cheque. To qualify for this, you should ensure that the new member makes reference to the fact on their subscription forms that they have been introduced by you. The new forms have a specific section for this. If this section is not completed it is obviously more difficult for us to pay this bounty, but if you think you have a claim that hasn't been processed, please give us a call and we will try to resolve it, but with no guarantees.

We regret that this new scheme cannot be implemented retrosepectively. We appreciate that some of you have done spendidly in this regard in the past and that this might seem a bit unfair, but we are confident that you appreciate that the administration of retrospective awards would be an administration nightmare. There is no limit to the number of new members/bounties you can claim. If you can introduce enough new members to get your own account for free and even make a profit, then so be it!
