The Nevis Range Gondola,
only 5 minutes from Woodside. The Gondola system is the only one in the UK and
takes summer visitors, winter skiers and snow boarders up to the top station at 2,300
feet. Aonach Mor, the name of the mountain which provides the skiing, is a little more than 4,000 feet. |

This is a view from one of the
gondola cars, which takes approximately 15 minutes from top to bottom. Each car can carry
6 persons. The trip is a very pleasant experience as the car slowly travels passed tree line and the view develops as the car progresses up the mountain. |

A view from the observation veranda
of the mountain restauant, looking down into the Great Glen and towards the direction of
Loch Lochy. It is often possible to see red deer on the mountain as the gondola cars pass silently above. Buzzards are common too. |

Nevis Range provides excellent
facilities for skiers and snow boarders. This picture was taken half way up the mountain, looking back down towards the restarant and Gondola station. The ski season normally starts in January and lasts until April, though it has been possible to ski in November. |

This is a great view, just to the
left of the restauant. Looking west and down, Fort William nestles by the shore of Loch Linnhe. Some of mountains in the distance are almost 40 miles away. Copyright: A McKenna |
