Jane Jacobs : Systems of Survival In this interesting book Jacobs indentifies that our society rests on two completely different value systems the commercial and the guardian systems. Analysing the press and other sources for what people are commended or criticised for we can see two distinct systems have emerged, one for business and one for rulers , courts , monopolies and other organisations based on force. What happens when the guardians get involved in commerce or science Their value system demands control and obedience.
