Many thanks for responding to the mailshots and subscribing. At last count we had 68 members. I appreciate all the comments I have received and feel encouraged to continue with my web-sleuth activities.

Next month is Shock Wave Underground's 1st Anniversary of our arrival on the web . So I'll be planning some interesting things for the next issue.
It is to be noted that we are in no way connected with Macromedia's Shockwave (one word) and have been around a lot longer than them.
Shock Wave was started in 1978 (20 years ago next year) as a Punk/New Wave Sound System and eventually moved into concert promotion. We only exist in cyberspace at the moment, though we do have some plans for the future yet to be revealed. Perhaps I'll post up a history of our activities at some point.

With the new millennium rapidly creeping up on us most of us will have problems with the date reading 1980 instead of 2000. That is until now.

Here you can download a copy of Year2000.Com that will solve the hardware side of the problem and also a selection of utilities to safely find out if you will be affected. The good news is, it's FREE for personal and non-business use!
The bad news is, it will only work until the year 2050. I doubt if some of us will be around by then and any computer in use today will probably be a laughable dinosaur in 2050 AD.

This really is an essential bit of software.

Fractint is a Public Domain fractal generator for PC's and is without a doubt the most versatile and extensive Fractal and Mandelbrot generator in existence.
Hundreds of people are involved in it's development and it gets better and better all the time.

Last month I sent out a stack of one-off mailshots and as a result of one going to a US government department, I received the following message:
