Alba Archaeology Ltd is a Limited Liability Co-operative founded by Jim Rideout and Chris Russell-White to provide archaeological services to Central Government, Local Government and the Business Community. The Company was incorporated in March 1996 (Registered in Scotland No. 164431). By forming the Company as a co-operative the Directors intend that it grows organically by the gradual addition of new members from the archaeological profession who share a desire to carry out archaeological work to the highest standards. In addition to the Directors' considerable experience in the archaeological discipline, we have access to a wide range of experts for the more specialised work which may at times be necessary.
Prior to the foundation of the Company, the Directors were responsible for a wide variety of work. Our experience as project managers covers Desk- top Surveys, Field Surveys, Excavation and Post-excavation Processing through to final report. We are, therefore, fully qualified to carry out Assessments and Evaluations, both desk-top and field-based, as well as larger Field Projects and Archaeological Illustration. Our long relationship with Historic Scotland, particularly in the area of monument protection, and Jim Rideout's experience as an Expert Witness, means that we are well-qualified to advise on matters relating to current legislation.
