FALKIRK 400

400 years ago on the 17th March in the year 1600, the town of Falkirk (which had been around for centuries before) was granted a Royal Charter by King James 6th on payment every year of a pair of gilt spurs.

Please take a look at the History pages on this website for details of Falkirk's rich and varied heritage.

To commemorate this important anniversary, a series of events will take place culminating in a two day Fair in the town centre. Preceding this, local historians have arranged a series of lectures on Falkirk's Burgh status.
